Our Story

"The best way to combat the growing fossil-fuel driven fashion industry is by relearning how our ancient ancestors made clothing, organically and entirely from plants." Shane Armour (Founder)

We dream of a world....

Where people wear more linen than polyester

Where our colors come from minerals and plants

Where all businesses support local conservation efforts and farmers

Where forests grow larger not smaller

Where people are proud of what they wear

Where our planet is free of plastic waste!

Our Origins

We don't need to harm the environment to create beautiful clothing. Instead, we need to look at how our ancestors dressed themselves sustainably for thousands of years.

We were founded in 2019 by Shane Armour, an environmentalist who was working on an organic farm in Waimanalo.

He realized that even though he hated the impact of the fossil fuel industry on the world, all of the clothes in his closet were supporting that industry.

He started growing indigo plants on the farm and dyeing his own clothing with a dye created from the leaves. He found that you can create a variety of colors with plants and that we dont need the plastic based materials (that our polluting our planet) to create beautiful clothing. He started our company to share his love for natural clothing with the world and to give people an alternative to the polyester based fashion dominating the fashion industry.

Our Collections

'Botanical Art'

This collection celebrates botanical arts, artists, and plant lovers. We create a variety of illustrations showing some of our favorite plants on the island. Our shirts featuring this artwork only come in white and natural colors to avoid the synthetic dye industry.

'Essentials'

This collection focuses on beautiful island wear featuring super soft linen and bamboo fabrics which are hand dyed on Oahu. We take some of our favorite plant based materials and dye them with indigo, cochineal, avocado, and other natural dyes. We are currently working on a project to help remove the highly invasive African Tulip trees on the island, and use the plant waste to create beautiful dyes for our clothing!
